2011 की जनगणना के मुताबिक भारत में 2.68 करोड़ दिव्यांग जन हैं। यह (भारत की) आबादी का लगभग 2.23 फीसदी है। विकलांगता कई प्रकार की हो सकती है जैसे दृष्टि विकलांगता, बोलने की विकलांगता, श्रवण विकलांगता या अन्य शारीरिक विकलांगता आदि। इनमें से प्रत्येक की अपनी अलग-अलग चुनौतियां होती हैं। समर्थन की कमी के कारण दिव्यांगों के लिए अपने दम पर दुनिया में अपना रास्ता बनाना मुश्किल हो जाता है। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी ने 27 दिसंबर 2016 को अपने रेडियो संबोधन 'मन की बात' में कहा था कि शारीरिक रूप से अशक्त लोगों के पास एक 'दिव्य क्षमता' है और उनके लिए 'विकलांग' शब्द की जगह 'दिव्यांग' शब्द का इस्तेमाल किया जाना चाहिए। उन्होंने विकलांग व्यक्तियों के सशक्तीकरण विभाग का नाम बदलकर हिंदी में 'दिव्यांगजन सशक्तिकरण विभाग' भी रखा। दिव्यांगजनों की मदद से बढ़कर कोई कार्य नहीं है। इनके लिए समाज के हर वर्ग के लोगों को आगे आना चाहिए। परिवर्तन योगेश संस्था के सदस्य (परिवर्तन मित्र) दिव्यांगों की हर प्रकार की सेवा में कटिबद्ध हैं। परिवर्तन योगेश की मुहीम में आप भी साथी बनिए।
